Grepping (‘man grep’ for those of you using unix, those not – why not?) through my blog to try and find something i knew i’d written once – i reminded myself of why I don’t make a habit of reading through old blog entries. urgh.

what was i grepping for – a certain Augie March reference in entry 167, that’s what :) (i’ll leave it as an exercise to the reader to find out how to read that specific entry).

reading what else came up with grepping and browsing – woah – brought back some stuff. i guess when you’re not feeling (emotionally) too bad, other experiences really don’t register. fascinating.

bloody hell – i found an old entry along with a crazy index generating script back when i was fantasizing about having enough time to write decent blogging software and i think i want to thwack myself in the past.

but i guess you get that way before you get perspective.

Updated my linux page, about to add some updated docs to my honors page and have added two more patches to my stew’s patches directory.

I love rsync and CVS. sure, cvs has limitations, but it doesn’t cost anything and does 95+% of what I want.

that’s what my blog exports to.

I’ve been told this site looks like a programmers website. Well, I guess it is true. I’m attempting to be stardards compliant around the place, I keep my site in CVS, I rsync it across (’cause I do blog entries via a web interface).

I’ve yet to add any proper photos section to it (need some decent script to downsample my images)

There are more patches than pictures.

1) Web Browsers refuse to render non standards compliant sites
2) SVG is used for all applicable images.
3) META tags are used properly
4) Comic Sans MS is deleted from all computers, everywhere
5) Background music becomes impossible
6) ban the plugins

Added my “MacOS X as UNIX” talk to the talks page, the linked list code to the junkcode page and generally thinking about actually putting up all that old stuff i’ve got lying around on my .mac account.

Which reminds me, i should really start migrating everything over to flamingspork.com…..
