\"perth<\/a>It’s been over ten years since the last linux.conf.au in Perth<\/a> but don’t worry, this upcoming January, we’re back in Perth for linux.conf.au 2014<\/a>. I’m really looking forward to getting back to Perth as I’ve only been there very, very briefly since 2003 and would love to explore the city a bit more.<\/p>\n

\nPerth 2003 was the first linux.conf.au I ever went to and I’ve been to every single one since (2004 in Adelaide<\/a>, 2005 in Canberra<\/a>, 2006 in Dunedin<\/a>, 2007 in Sydney<\/a>, 2008 in Melbourne<\/a>, 2009 in Hobart<\/a>, 2010 in Wellington<\/a>, 2011 in Brisbane<\/a>, 2012 in Ballarat<\/a> and 2013 in Canberra<\/a> – each one of them absolutely brilliant). A few things were different back then, for example, there was a terminal room with actual terminals <\/strong>where you could use cutting edge technologies such as telnet<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\nAs a surprise to many, 2003 was the first year that Linus came to an LCA, arriving in the fashion of the time (a penguin suit).<\/p>\n

I have many fond memories of LCA back in 2003 and with the list of speakers<\/a> and miniconfs<\/a> for this year mostly up already, it’s looking to be an excellent conference in January 2014 – just a few short months away.<\/p>\n
