Yes, I really, really really dislike the Microsoft Windows platform. I think you have to approach insanity to even remotely consider using it in a HA environment.
That doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t support it. Switching an entire software stack can be a lot of work. Much better to gradually move to complete freedom and sanity.
I absolutely agree 100%, how dare the New York Stock Exchange run 100% on the Windows platform with 7 x 9’s availability. It is not good enough and I think they should migrate to Unbuntu on a couple of PC’s…yeah right. You reap what you sow, if you employ Monkeys you get poor availability, you engineer any solution correctly it is both available and managable, doesn’t matter who manufactured it.
