The web UI sucks, doesn’t actually work properly under a free browser (errr… okay, Gecko based) – namely the page where you can change the IP of the router.
In modem mode, it seems to still be able to do PPPoA authentication – which makes really weird shit happen. like a netmask of 255.255.255.255 – which I’m not actually convinced is a ADSL modem problem, possible internode instead. Think about how the hell you’re meant to access your gateway.
Oh, and the port forwarding doesn’t work!!!
It’s a Netgear DG632 ADSL Modem Router.
Although it does run linux (or at least some GPL and some LGPL software). Why the hell can’t i just get a console into the darn thing.

I have a Netgear DG834G, and you can get a console to it by requesting the URL:
http://10.1.1.1/setup.cgi?todo=debug
Where 10.1.1.1 is the router’s internal IP address, obviously. The router then opens up telnet until it’s rebooted, and you can get in there and fiddle around with things you probably shouldn’t.
May have tried it… but hey, have just bought a Linksys and it works. So no more netgear for me!
linksys sucks ass. ive had nothin but problems with their inferior products. i Strongly recommend ANy other brand. BTW im ‘using’ the wrt5gs speedbooster. I will never, ever, ever buy anything with Linksys on it again
I’ve heard very non-favourable things about linksys stuff that is NOT running Linux (instead vxworks i think). For example, the WRT54G revisions that ran linux worked really well – heard lots of bad things about the vxworks ones. The WRT54GL (L for Linux) is probably a much better buy.

I just wasted $32 on this piece of shit card. I had a choice of a Asus card and this hunk of shit and me being the dumb fuck decided to go with Netgear since.. I dont know THEY MAKE NETWORK STUFF!!

I too bought – BOUGHT! – a PCI card from twatgear and lo my computer is fucked!! Never, EVER, again. BEWARE
It is true! and on top of that netgear has DNS forwarding problem when it comes to https and ftp, no matter what kind of troubleshooting or cmd’ing you do it will not fix, costumer service can only say that some of their new routers do not support vista, wait..what??!! It just does not support Vista. make sure you read editor reviews before you buy something!!!!!!

i’ve got a netgear wireless router and i had problem with accessing my wireless and they were telling me that my contract was finished so i hve to renew that and pay them after that they can provide me the services it was just setting in the 10.1.1.1 i know i can do it it was f ** king easy and had a problem because of OPTUS THEY R ALSO F***ED UP!
