Working desktop (with Ubuntu 7.04 beta)

yay – got an install of Ubuntu 7.04 on my RAID5 with LVM with RAID1 /boot. Not only that, it’s booted – twice. Special.

Even plugged in my USB RAID1 array and managed to get it to mount… and am now importing photos into the f-spot store on it. Yay.

Lets see if it survives any amount of time…

  1. I dunno how you’ve manage to blow your Feisty installs up so often Stewart, I’ve been running it on a couple of desktops and a laptop for a while now (pre-beta release) and it’s been working well so far.

I’m not using RAID-5 anywhere though, RAID-1 at the most, so that could be it..

  2. neither do I really… it’s an interesting one.

but any combination of RAID, LVM, non ext3 anywhere usually leads to interesting times.

installing the bootloader seems to be the hard part of the install.

this time i managed to get lilo on there (AFTER having manually configured the root device, rebuilt initramfs, run lilo) and am happy.

  3. Hey MacPlusG3 !

I’m facing some of the interesting times you talk about … upgrade from edgy to feisty, root on soft raid + lvm2 volumes, impossible to install lilo…. Google is not really my friend here, except if you are my saver ;-)

Can you elaborate on your solution ? I read “(AFTER having manually configured the root device, rebuilt initramfs, run lilo)” and find this way to short for me:-/

    TIA,
